Giek, in collaboration with Chabela Maturana Parraguez and Enrique Arce Gutierrez, facilitated the LEF Global Lab conversations in 2020 for Rijkswaterstaat. The theme of the two-hour online conference was ‘Inner Climate’, where Giek_1 presented video work and two live performances.
The participants were invited to explore a unique 3D retreat-like world representing various aspects of the ‘Inner Climate’, such as anger, fear, confusion, empathy, and social connection. These elements were connected to the climate crisis we face, and the immersive experience allowed the participants to engage with and understand these topics through interactive elements.
To enhance the experience and guide the participants through the session, a simple yet concise narrative was used. The experience incorporated art and multimedia elements, including interactive visuals and meditation exercises, with the use of Audio-Visual Entrainment techniques, to create a shared physical and mental state for everyone involved.
